Germanium (Ge)

Germanium is widely applied in fields of aerospace, semiconductor, optical fiber communication, infrared optics, solar cells, biomedicine and more. Germanium is an elemental semiconductor featuring a high refractive index, wide infrared transmission range, low absorption coefficient, and low dispersion, making it easy to process. Due to its excellent infrared light transmittance and opacity in the visible spectrum, it is an ideal material for fabricating optical components used in infrared lasers and thermal imaging applications. Germanium is the most common material used for producing infrared optics for long wave IR such as IR optical lenses and IR optical windows and it can also be used as a material for prisms and filters for thermal imagers and infrared radar among other infrared optical devices used in civilian applications as well.

Vital Optics Technology provides a variety of Germanium (Ge) optical products, with resistivities ranging from 0.0001 Ω·cm to over 75Ω·cm. VOT can also provide a variety of germanium products such as reduced germanium, zone germanium ingot, solar germanium, and infrared germanium.
